    Santana 879A

Hello, I would like to build a pair of 879A but could not find any plan for the enclosures.
Could any one tell me what the dimensions are? I would like to keep with the original as much as possible even if it is possible to optimize the load based o the Thiel parameters.
    :thankU:Jeepy

I REALLY don't recommend this project.

Recone parts are NOT available for the woofers.

    Any reason you want these?

The Santana is not highly prized.

I mean a decent pair just sold for under 200.....

The 15 sounds good. The tweeter is easily blown. Replacements are not available, and the woofer has to be reconed typically as a 416...

The tweeter isn't Altec it was purchased from CTS.
Your neighbors called. They like your music.

Thanks, I agree somewhere with you... It's just to start 'ma collection' of Altec speakers! I've got the 4 drivers and good filter caps plus the original grill with logos!...: It costs a lot to import all that stuff in Switzerland... but!!!!:thankU:

I'd recommend designing a decent vented box for the 420 using the TS parameters

    http://alteclansingunofficial.nlenet...ele-Small.html

There is lots of software to help.

GPA sells the little Mantaray horns dirt cheap...like $20-25 each US-then find a set of drivers...you'll wind up with better speakers...the little Mantaray is so light shipping is cheap...

    http://www.greatplainsaudio.com/hf_horns.html

Poor man's option, design the box for the 420's and use the existing tweets. Make the speaker baffle board removable so you can change it later. Then you can upgrade the HF, if you ever blow a woofer recone thm as 416'-B and retune the box...

Here are the dimensions of the Santana

    It's just a box....
